What is the Card CVV2 Number?

The CVV2 (Card Verification Value) code is an authentication method established by credit card companies to reduce fraudulent transactions. Requiring the card holder to provide the CVV2 code for the transaction simply verifies that the card is physically present. You can find these codes shown in the pictures below. If your cards CVV2 code is worn and illegible, enter the value 000.

Visa, Mastercard and Discover Cards

The CVV2 code is the 3 digit value embossed on the signature panel located on the back of the card.

American Express Cards

The CVV2 code is the 4 digit value printed (not embossed) above the account number.
